Beginning in the 2006-2007 school year, King Kaumualii School adopted the Everyday Mathematics Program. Everyday Mathematics is a researched based program that attempts to build student’s mathematical knowledge. Children are provided many opportunities to practice math concepts through the use of games. The first grade program is divided into 10 units. Each unit introduces a new concept as stated in the title. Each concept also provides review of previously taught concepts. Concepts in each unit are categorized as beginning (newly taught concept), developing (concept taught previous and is being reinforced) and secured (concept that should be mastered by the end of the unit). Click on next to explore each unit. The I Can statements listed are those that are in the developing and secured category.
